We had the Plymouth Albion rugby to look forward to on 14th January. We had to order some very large sizes for the men’s team. Have you seen how big the second row are? The plan for the afternoon was that we would take along the t-shirts and the ladies team would hand out leaflets. It was very cold and rainy and so there wasn’t a huge crowd. But true to their word, both the men’s and ladies team warmed up in the iLIVEiGIVE t-shirts, and made them very dirty! The ladies were victorious and had an excellent game, unfortunately, the men’s team weren’t so lucky. Maree, Jo, Chris and Julian almost froze and had to take refuge in the bar (for a little while), but they only had coffee.
By now 1600 people had viewed the iLIVEiGIVE video. We felt really proud that we were getting people thinking about organ donation. More and more people were asking to get involved by wearing t-shirts, so to help the envelopes stand out we had two rubber stamps made. One with “iLIVEiGIVE’ and the other said “Warning contents may save lives”. Chris liked the second stamp so much; he had a photo taken with the message stamped on his chest.
At the end of January we linked up with Nuffield Health in Plymouth and they agreed to support us and run a mini triathlon in March.
Our biggest surprise on 31st January occurred when Tom Daley tweeted a picture of him wearing the iLIVEiGIVE t-shirt. To say we were excited is an understatement. Our twitter followers went exponential and we will ever be indebted to him for helping us raise awareness.
